When talking about labeling machines for containers, three main types of labeling solutions are to be highlighted:
Wrap-around labeling
Self-adhesive labeling
Heat-shrinkable labeling
Wrap-around refers to traditional wrap-around labels that must be attached to the container by means of a hot-melt glue applied by the machine. Initially, these labels were made of paper (currently used on PET coffee jars, for example), but have been replaced by Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene (or BOPP) labels. BOPP labels are like those used on most soft drink bottles on the market, and offer benefits such as moisture/scratch resistance, ease of printing and high transparency.
Self-adhesive labels, on the other hand, do not require additional glue as the label material itself incorporates the adhesive. This allows for simpler machines that take up less space. Machines of this type will vary, depending on the surface on which the label will be applied and its positioning, or whether 1 or 2-sided labels are required. This type of label is used for higher value-added products such as wine or oil bottles.
Finally, shrink sleeve labels are a type of sleeve or tube label that is applied on the container and then shrinks when passing through a steam tunnel or electric oven. They are widely used in energy drinks, cold infusions or yogurts. Their positioning can cover the body of the bottle completely (full-body) or partially. In the latter case it can be positioned very precisely (on the shoulder of the bottle, for example). This type of equipment can also position the label on the neck and cap of the bottle as a security band to verify that the product has not been tampered with.
From PET Packaging Network, we can provide labeling equipment of Asian origin, whether manual, semi-automatic or automatic. Our wide range of products and solutions contemplates supplying all the equipment and machinery inside the production line, from the manufacturing of preforms and containers to end-of-line and auxiliary equipment.
